Kitchen Prep and Assistant - Part-time Position

Are you passionate about food and interested in joining a new gastronomic concept from the very beginning?

Emi X is a new gastronomic bar preparing to open in the Old Town of San Sebastián. Emi X brings together Japanese home cooking, Spanish influences, and original creations in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

We are looking for a committed, organized, and detail-oriented Prep Cook & Lunch Service Team Member to support daily food preparation and cook and plate dishes during lunch service.

The ability to follow recipes precisely and reproduce the same quality, portion, and presentation every time is essential for this role.
 

IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:

Prepare ingredients and dishes for both lunch and evening service

Organize and complete the daily preparation list

Cook, finish, and plate dishes during lunch service

Follow Emi X recipes, quantities, portions, preparation methods, and presentation standards precisely

Reproduce each dish consistently, without making unapproved changes

Check with the manager before changing any recipe, ingredient, method, portion, or presentation

Coordinate smoothly with the front-of-house team during lunch service

Monitor ingredient quality, freshness, labeling, and storage

Follow food-safety and hygiene procedures at all times

Clean and organize the kitchen and prepare it for the evening team
 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Previous professional kitchen experience and confidence with daily food preparation and service.

Recipe accuracy: You must be able to follow recipes, quantities, preparation methods, portions, and plating instructions precisely and consistently. Any proposed changes must be discussed and approved in advance.

Attention to detail: A careful and disciplined approach, with pride in reproducing every dish to the same standard each time.

Organization: The ability to plan preparation work, manage time effectively, and remain calm during lunch service.

Food safety: A clean, organized, and reliable approach to food handling and kitchen hygiene.

Languages: Confident communication in both English and Spanish.

Legal requirements: Legal right to work in Spain.

Availability: Availability to work morning and lunchtime shifts, including weekends.

POSITION DETAILS

Contract: Part-time.

Schedule: Two or three days per week.

Typical hours: 09:00–17:00.

Regular closing days: Emi X is regularly closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Location: Old Town, San Sebastián.

Salary and conditions: According to the applicable Gipuzkoa hospitality collective agreement.
