We are looking for a professional with advanced technical experience in digital publishing (EPUB) to:
Provide practical training to our technical and editorial team.
Format an EPUB file solving technical issues to ensure correct
readability of all its elements (tables, images, text...)
The training will take place in Madrid, preferably in person to facilitate work on real cases, with flexibility to adapt to an online format.
We seek a specialist from the publishing sector or digital development who works extensively with the EPUB standard and the accessibility regulatory framework (European Directive 2019/882, EPUB Accessibility 1.1, and WCAG 2.1 AA).
Training objective
We are looking for someone who masters the internal architecture of an EPUB (HTML5, CSS, OPF metadata, MathML or LaTeX) and who regularly works with editing, validation, and reading tools such as Thorium Reader, Calibre, Sigil, Adobe Digital Editions, NVDA, Ace by DAISY, and EPUBCheck.
The course should focus on solving real and recurring problems:
Liquid layout mismatches: images that do not scale proportionally with the text or diagrams cut off on screen.
Orphan elements between page breaks (captions or titles disconnected from their graphics).
Complex tables losing headers when paginated.
Errors in specific readers, such as search failures in Adobe Digital Editions.
Superscripts with corrupted numbering, footnotes restarting abnormally, or broken hyperlinks.
Proper metadata configuration and strict compliance to pass EPUBCheck and Ace by DAISY validations without issues.
